Melting Snowman STEM....
Why not set up a little STEM snow experiment with a snowman indoors. How long will it take for him to melt?
SNOW EXPERIMENT SET UP, SUPPLIES, AND RESULTS
Simple set up for this melting snow experiment! Clearly you need snow!
Have students engineer a SNOWMAN. You may want to have required range for the height.
Have students write a hypothesis about the melt rate. What could the varibles be that can change the melt rate?

Take a piece of thread and wrap the end of the cut sock very tight with it or sew it. Fill ½ of the closed sock with rice then finish filling the sock with stuffing. Shape Snowman’s body a bit before you tie it on top and shape his head. Tie or sew the top with a thread to close the body. Do it firm to avoid the rice from coming out. Shape the head by tying a thread around the “neck” few times or use a rubber band. Fold the foot part of the sock 2 or 3 times to make a cosy hat Decorate Your Snowman. |
